Amy Gibson to Lead "Up 'Til Dawn" at William Woods University

2011 May 19

A new "Up 'til Dawn" board of directors has been elected at William Woods University, assuring the continuation of efforts to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Among the directors is Amy Gibson of Kirksville, Mo.

The student-run organization conducts fundraising events to support St. Jude. The hospital, located in Memphis, Tenn., is world-renowned in the treatment and research of childhood illnesses, diseases and cancers. This hospital is one of the forerunners in finding cures for cancers. St. Jude provides care to children without cost to families.

Miranda Haynes of Moberly, Mo., is the new executive director. Other officers are: David Ridenour of Montgomery City, Mo., assistant director; Katie Zimmer of Barrington, Ill., teams and morale chair; Paige Groves of Mexico, Mo., sponsorship chair; Doug Harris of Fenton, Mo., logistics chair; William Wallace of Louisiana, Mo., public relations chair, Chris Reinert of Parkville, Mo., advocacy chair; Darian Horn of Fort Madison, Iowa, recruitment chair; Dakota Linsenbardt of Jefferson City, Mo., entertainment chair; and Amy Gibson of Kirksville, Mo., fundraising chair.

This will be the eighth year WWU students have conducted fundraising events to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Up 'til Dawn has raised nearly $90,000 since the group was started on campus in 2004.

The student-run organization raises funds through a variety of events, culminating in the annual letter-writing party. Fundraisers last fall included "Dodgeball for St. Jude," "Dunk for a Dollar," "Pie your Professor" and "Scare Away Cancer."
