Bailey Campanini to Perform in Perfect Wedding at William Woods University

"Perfect Wedding," a contemporary take on classic British comedic farce, will be performed by the William Woods University theatre department April 24-27.

The author, Robin Hawdon, is a British playwright especially known for the popularity of his comedies. The play has provoked waves of laughter in literally hundreds of productions around Europe and across America, and is due to be made into a Hollywood film. It is that rare combination - a riotous comedy and a touching love story at the same time.

"Perfect Wedding" will be staged at 7:30 p.m. April 24-26, with a matinee at 2 p.m. April 27 in Cutlip Auditorium.

During the play, a bridegroom wakes on his wedding morning in his own bridal suite, with his bride-to-be about to arrive any moment, and finds a strange, extremely attractive, girl in bed beside him. In the ensuing panic to get the stranger dressed and out of the way, the bride arrives and the girl is trapped in the bathroom.

The only way out of the dilemma is to persuade the best man to pretend the hidden girl is his girlfriend. Then the problem is the best man's real girlfriend has to be kept ignorant of the fact.

"By the time the bride's parents and half the hotel staff get in on the act, the chaos reaches nuclear proportions!" according to Samuel French, Inc., an American company that publishes plays, represents authors and sells scripts.

Bailey Campanini of Camdenton, Mo. is a member of the cast.

"Perfect Wedding" will be directed by Melissa Alpers-Springer; with set design by Theron Seckington; lighting design by Jennifer Steindorf; and costume design by Jane Friedman.

Tickets for "Perfect Wedding" are $6 for children (6 -12); $7 for students; $8 for faculty and staff; $10 for senior citizens ages 62 and up; and $12 for adults.
