Bailey Campanini to perform in William Woods University Theatre Presentation of 'Lysistrata'

Bailey Campanini of Camdenton, Mo., will perform in the William Woods University theatre production of "Lysistrata" April 8, 9, 14, 15 and 16 at 8 p.m. in Cutlip Auditorium of the McNutt Campus Center.

The play is set in ancient Greece during a time of war. The women-tired of war and destruction-strike for peace using the most powerful weapon in the feminine arsenal. Led by Lysistrata, the women agree to refrain from all sexual interaction with the men until they have come to terms of peace. Will the men stop fighting? Will the women hold true to their pledge? The fun never stops in one of the most famous farces in all of literature.

WWU student performers are Kayla Pulliam of Bloomington-Normal, Ill., as Lysistrata; Rachel Petricka of Las Vegas, Nev., as Kleonike; Bailey Campanini of Camdenton, Mo., as Myrrhine; Paige Runge of St. Louis, Mo., as Lampito; Madeline Ortego of Fayetteville, Ark., as Ismenia and Peace; Jason Cavallone of Chicago, Ill., as Opisthenia and Archon; Drew Arnett of St. Louis, Mo., as Kinesias/Skynthian Archer; Justin Bogucki of Hallsville, Mo., as Spartan/ Skynthian Archer; Nick Hoover of Auxvasse, Mo., as Phlaccidos; Ashleigh Emmons of Bothell, Wash., as Stratyllis.

The production will be directed by Melissa Alpers-Springer and costumes will be designed by Jane Friedman. Guest artist Dan Springer will design the lights and set, and WWU student Tanner Sauvan will control the sound effects.

The play contains adult themes, language and situations so it is not recommended for children. Tickets are $5 for children (ages 6-12), $6 for students and senior citizens (age 62+), and $10 for adults. Tickets can be purchased at the door or by calling the box office at 573-592-4267. The box office opens March 28.
