Elizabeth Curtin Compete at American Royal for WWU

William Woods University's saddle seat horses and riders competed at the American Royal in Kansas City, Mo., Nov. 12-16.

During September, October and November, The American Royal hosts the world's largest barbeque contest, livestock and agricultural exhibitions, professional rodeos, horse shows and finally, the National Championship Saddlebred competition.

Saddle seat riders worked all hours this semester to long line, drive and ride to prepare their Royal mounts for their debut. The results:

Elizabeth Curtin of Stockton, N.J. on Reedann’s Yes You May- fourth place in the Missouri/Kansas 3-Gaited Show Pleasure.

Sarah Track, saddle seat instructor, was impressed by the professional manner of the saddle seat students, given the high caliber of the horse show.

"All of the riders did well handling the pressure and stress of a national championship horse show," Track said. "I was proud of each and every one of them."
