Erica Begley Helps Create Coloring Book for William Woods University

2012 Jun 14

Coloring books have always been a fun activity for children. Now William Woods University graphic design students have created one featuring their campus.

Students enrolled in the Real World Design Studio class work on projects in the community for actual clients. One of this year's clients was the campus Logo Store.

Gwynne LaRue, WWU Logo Store manager, asked the class to create a campus-oriented coloring book she could sell in the store.

Amanda Seitter of Peculiar, Mo., a May graphic design graduate, was project leader for the coloring book. She researched publishers, planned the layout, and then sought out other WWU art students to contribute their artwork to the project. Erica Begley of Hannibal, Mo., was a contributing artist.

The front and back covers of the book were designed by Seitter.

"I was happy to produce it for Gwynne in the Logo Store because it was something she had always wanted to have done," Seitter said.

"I couldn't have done it without the help from fellow art students, and I appreciate them so much. I hope it turns out great and that it will be a cool little book for children visiting WWU. I'm looking forward to seeing the published version."

The coloring book is being printed by Really Big Coloring Books, Inc. of St. Louis, Mo. It is hoped the book will be in the WWU Logo Store for purchase by fall 2012.
