Jeannie Crosby wins equestrian award at William Woods University

2013 Jun 11

Equestrian students graduating from William Woods University in May received awards in recognition of their accomplishments. Jeannie Crosby of Fulton, Mo., was one of the recipients.

Jacque Franco is the 2013 Vera Chenoweth Outstanding Equestrian Graduate. The award is given annually to the equestrian senior recognized as the most outstanding graduate in the equestrian studies division. The winner is that person who has given the most to the total department over the course of their career at WWU. The selection is made by the entire equestrian studies faculty.

Shae Dabbs is the 2013 Atkinson Achievement recipient. The Atkinson Achievement Award is given annually to the graduating senior who has demonstrated the most growth as a rider and horseperson while at WWU. Her improvement as a rider was recognized by the entire equestrian faculty.

Three students were recognized as 2013 Distinguished Scholars: Franco, Equestrian Science; Jeannie Crosby, Equine Administration; and Dani Moritz, Equine General Studies. These awards are based on academic achievement.

Faculties of the various disciplines may, but are not obliged to, designate graduating seniors as Distinguished Scholars. Eligibility requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.4; the equestrian faculty also considers other relevant academic factors and variables in the selection process.

Each year the riding disciplines recognize outstanding graduating seniors in each discipline. THey were:

a Heather Kruse, Dressage Appreciation Award

a Erin Springer, Western Appreciation Award

a Carly Fettig, Saddle Seat Appreciation Award

a Franco, Hunter/Jumper Appreciation Award
