Maggie Hunter to perfrom in WWU theatre production 'Amadeus'

2011 Nov 28

A play exploring the rivalry between Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and another composer will be presented by the William Woods University Theatre Department as its next play. "Amadeus" will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1, 2 and 3 and 2 p.m. Dec. 4 in Cutlip Auditorium of the McNutt Campus Center.

Maggie Hunter of Columbia, Mo., was chosen to play the role of Citizen and Servent of Vienna.

"Amadeus" follows the story of Mozart and Antonio Salieri, the court composer for the emperor of Austria in the late 18th century. Jealous of Mozart's genius and resentful of his own mediocrity, Salieri secretly rejects God and vows to destroy his rival's career.

This production will be directed by Melissa Alpers-Springer, assistant professor of communications and theatre. The late Dan Springer designed the set, and Dustin West will design the lights for this production. Jane Friedman will provide costume design.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for senior citizens (62+) and children 6-12, and $8 for WWU faculty, staff and students. For tickets, call the box office at (573) 592-4267.
